Ilisia: Elevator accident in supermarket – Technician in critical condition
A serious accident took place in a supermarket on Periandrou Street in the Ilisia area, shortly after 12:30 PM on Tuesday, December 23rd.
According to information, the elevator inside the store trapped the technician, who was inside for maintenance work, resulting in serious injury.
The same sources indicate that the man, a 44-year-old elevator technician, was picked up by the ambulance service unconscious and was transported to the “Gennimatas” hospital, where he is currently being treated on a ventilator in critical condition.
According to Orange Agency Press, the accident occurred when the technician was conducting maintenance at the top of the elevator and, under conditions that are being investigated, the elevator was put into operation.
The elevator moved towards the upper floor and trapped the technician on the ceiling. Fifteen firefighters with three vehicles rushed to the scene.
The firefighters rescued the man, unconscious, and handed him over to the ambulance service. At the same time, the police are investigating the area and taking statements.
