“Alexandra” Hospital: There is no “abandoned babies wing”

In response to social media posts (Facebook) regarding a call for donations of items for abandoned children housed in a “wing for abandoned babies” at the G.N.M. “Elena El. Venizelos” – “Alexandra” Hospital, we inform you that the hospital does not house babies beyond a few days when this is necessary to complete the required procedures on a case-by-case basis.

This specific post with the exact same text has appeared periodically on various Facebook profiles over the last few years, and its original creator has not been identified to date.

Given that there is no apparent need for gathering items for these babies, we are once again compelled to categorically deny the content of these “fake” posts, which, even if made with good intentions by unsuspecting citizens, create a false and defamatory image of our hospitals and the important role played by their Neonatal Departments and social services.
